Sending a secure print job to the printer (multifunction and
single function printers)
Your system administrator has configured a printer especially for HP Access Control Secure
Printing, you need to print through it to benefit from HP Access Control Secure Printing features.
To print a secure print job, proceed normally to print your documents: from your application, select
Print, configure the printing job options, and click OK.
If no additional popup window appears, all your secure printing parameters are automatically set
and you can proceed to the retrieval of your print jobs.
If a popup window appears, you will be able to set one or more secure print job parameters
described in the table “Secure print job parameters” below. Configure the secure print job
parameters shown in the popup window and click OK to send the print job to the printer.
Secure print job parameters
Print without retention Select this option to cancel authentication for the print job. This
option is useful if the printer is located next to you, making
authentication unnecessary for assuring security when
releasing print jobs. Another possible scenario is if you do not
have your badge and do not have access to an alternate
authentication method and are authorized to print unsecurely.
Billing code
(may be required)
Enter a billing code for the job. This billing code is assigned to
the print job to charge back to a client or project with the cost
of the job.
Expiration date
(required - ranges from 1 hour to 48 days)
This option determines how long the system will keep an
unclaimed print job before deleting it.
Recipient
(required)
Specify the recipient for the print job (user or department):
User
To assign the print job to a specific user:
1. Click the radio button next to User.
2. Type in or select from the drop-down list the login name
of the user that will release the print job.
3. If prompted, retype the username in the “Confirm
recipient:” field.
Important: If you assign someone else as the print job
recipient, you are responsible for notifying them that they have
a secure print job pending.
Depending on how your system is configured, you may be
allowed to leave the user field blank. The system will then
automatically insert your login name in the User field.
Department
If you assign a print job to a department, any user belonging
to this department will be able to release the print job, with
