Place your ngernail in the ngernail slot and pull the tray out to
remove it. Then insert a nano SIM card (purchased separately)
into the tray.
NOTE: Your device supports two nano SIM cards or one nano SIM card and
one microSD card.

Basic tasks
UNLOCK THE SCREEN
Press the power button, and
then slide up from the bottom of
the screen.
DISPLAY THE START SCREEN
Tap .
ACCESS SETTINGS AND
NOTIFICATIONS
Slide down from the top of
the screen.
DISPLAY THE NAVIGATION BAR
Slide up from the bottom of
the screen.
SEARCH
Tap , tap the search box at the
bottom of the screen, and then
begin typing the name of an app,
setting, le, or Internet topic.

Tap
, tap the search box at the
bottom of the screen, tap , and
then speak the name of an app,
setting, le, or Internet topic.
DISPLAY THE PREVIOUS SCREEN
Tap .
LIST YOUR APPS
Slide left on the screen.
ADD APPS
Tap , tap Store, tap at
the top of the screen, type
your search term, tap , and
then follow the on-screen
instructions.
NOTE: The appearance of the screen
may vary.
CREATE NEW CONTACTS
Tap , slide left on the screen
to display all apps, tap People,
tap +, and then follow the on-
screen instructions.
SET UP EMAIL AND SOCIAL
NETWORK ACCOUNTS
Slide down from the top of the
screen, tap , tap Accounts,
tap Your email and accounts,
and then follow the on-screen
instructions.
SEND EMAIL
Tap , tap Outlook Mail, select
your account, and then follow
the on-screen instructions.

After charging the battery,* press the power button for about 5
seconds until you feel the device vibrate.
*The battery is fully charged when
the status light changes from
red to green.

Follow the on-screen instructions to select a language, a
wireless network, a Microsoft® account,* storage options, and
other settings.
If the screen switches o, press the power button, and then slide
up from the bottom of the screen.
*If you do not have a Microsoft account, you can create one now.
LOCK SCREEN SIGN-IN
You can set up a sign-in lock screen to make sure no one else
can unlock your device using a sign-in PIN, iris scan, or ngerprint
reader.
To set a sign-in PIN, slide down from the top of the screen, tap
, tap Personalization, tap Lock screen, tap Sign-in options, and
then follow the on-screen instructions.
For more sign-in options, see the “Security and backup” section
of this document.
Power o
Press and hold the power button, and then slide down on the screen
when prompted.
NOTE: If your device becomes unresponsive, press and hold the power button
until the device turns o.
