• In some circumstances while uploading (staging) a firmware update package, the progress indicator
might appear to be stuck at 0%. Normally, the upload operation completes in a few minutes. If the
upload does not complete, the operation times out in 30 minutes, and then the upload can be
restarted.
• During automated firmware update, if the primary VC module is running the same or a higher
version than the selected firmware update package, and the "Allow firmware downgrades and/or
re-update" checkbox is not selected, only modules with lower firmware than the selected package
are updated. Upon completion of any updates, the firmware update page might display inaccurate
version numbers. To correct the display, select the "Firmware management" link in the left navigation
pane.
• The OA CLI update all firmware command causes a VC Manager loss of domain, and recovery
requires an OA reset plus VC Manager import of the stale configuration.
• During a manual firmware update, if a browser "stack overflow" error message is displayed, some
modules might still be running the previous firmware version and the Activate button does not appear
in the firmware update page. If the firmware update page shows the new firmware version under the
"Installed" tab, reset the module to activate the new firmware version.
• In some circumstances, the primary module might fail to activate after an Automated firmware
update. If the primary module fails to activate and the firmware update page shows the new
firmware version under the "Installed" tab, reset the primary module to activate the new firmware
version.
Virtual Connect Enterprise Manager Support
• VCEM v1.10 does not import and manage Virtual Connect domains configured with VC firmware
v1.3x.
• An attempt to import a VC domain running VC v1.3x firmware is blocked by VCEM.
• Updating an existing VC domain managed by VCEM with VC firmware v1.3x results in a failed
task.
• The planned release of VCEM v1.20 will support VC v1.3x and provide greater compatibility with
existing and future VC firmware releases. For details on VCEM v1.20 software availability, contact
your HP representative.

Upgrading the Virtual Connect firmware
Use the following steps to upgrade to Virtual Connect v1.34 firmware. It is important to follow the steps in
the exact order listed (for example, the Virtual Connect firmware must be upgraded before upgrading the
OA firmware).
Step 1—Save the configuration
1. Login to Virtual Connect Manager.
2. Select Backup Restore Domain Configuration from the Tools pull-down menu.
