New features
This section describes further details on the new features introduced with Fabric OS 7.0.1 and
later. See the Fabric OS Administrator's Guide for Fabric OS 7.0.0 for further details on the features
in this release.
Enhanced Optical ICL Topology Support for SN8000B SAN Directors
Fabric OS 7.0.1 and later supports the following enhanced topologies using optical ICLs:
Up to nine SN8000B SAN Director chassis in full mesh configurations using optical ICLs
ICL connectivity with up to ten SN8000B SAN Director chassis in core-edge topology
This increased support delivers massive scalability, significantly reduces cabling complexity, and
also makes more ports available for device connectivity.
Fabric OS 7.0.1 and later include support for Enterprise ICL license on SN8000B SAN Director
platforms. This license is required when an SN8000B Director is participating in a group of five
or more SN8000B Director chassis connected via ICLs.
NOTE: This license requirement does not depend on the total number of SN8000B Director
chassis that exist in a fabric, but only on the number of chassis interconnected via ICLs. This license
is recognized and displayed only when operating with Fabric OS 7.0.1 and later.
A description of this license can be found in the section “Optionally licensed software” (page 6).
