for the HP Procurve Switch XL mini-GBIC Module

Software Release E.06.01 Is Now Available

Release E.06.01 of the software for the HP Procurve Series 5300XL Switches is now available from

the HP Procurve website at:

http://www.hp.com/go/hpprocurve

(Click on software | switches.)

This release includes:

Support for the Gigabit-LH mini-GBIC (J4860A) for use in the HP Procurve Switch XL

mini-GBIC Module (J4878A)

The addition of a Trace Route command

The addition of 802.1x Open VLAN Mode -- a network security feature

and some other features and fixes to the software.

For HP Procurve 5300XL switches, which have software versions E.05.xx or earlier, you must first

download the E.06.01, or later, version before you can use these features. This version of the

software is currently only available on the HP Procurve web site.

Please see the section “Software Updates

” on the next page for information about

downloading the new software.

For some older network devices, including some older HP Procurve devices, the default for the Gigabit-SX, Gigabit-LX, and Gigabit-LH ports is a fixed configuration, for example 1000 Mbps/Full Duplex, or is otherwise different from these default configurations for the mini-GBICs, which is Auto.
