3 Installing P9000 Cluster Extension Software for Linux
This chapter describes how to install the P9000 Cluster Extension Software in a Linux environment.
The software provides integration with SUSE Linux Enterprise High Availability Extension, Red Hat
Cluster Suite, and a standalone application that can be used for other solutions.
NOTE: For information on configuring P9000 Cluster Extension Software in a Linux environment,
see the HP StorageWorks P9000 Cluster Extension Software Administrator Guide.
Prerequisites
Before installing P9000 Cluster Extension, perform the following tasks:
1. Check “General installation prerequisites (page 5) to make sure your setup meets the general
installation prerequisites.
NOTE: RAID Manager command devices must use udev-generated device file names. For
more information on udev, see the HP High Availability website: http://docs.hp.com/en/
ha.html.
2. For the cluster software versions and P9000 and XP arrays that are supported with P9000
Cluster Extension, see the HP SPOCK website: http://www.hp.com/storage/spock.
3. Make sure you have the latest supported software and microcode versions, fixes, FC adapter
firmware, and driver versions.
4. Complete the Linux pre-installation procedures.
See “Pre-installation procedures” (page 21) for more information.
Pre-installation procedures
Before installing P9000 Cluster Extension, complete the following configuration tasks:
1. Enable RAID Manager for startup.
For instructions, see “Enabling RAID Manager instances” (page 22).
2. Configure multipath software.
For more information, see “Configuring multipath software” (page 22).
3. Configure LVM.
For instructions, see “Configuring LVM” (page 22).
4. Install and configure the cluster software on each cluster node.
For more information, see “Installing and configuring the cluster software” (page 23).
Prerequisites 21
