HP StorageWorks P9000 Cluster Extension Software Installation Guide (TB534-96008, February 2011)
• Alternate I/O paths between the server and the disk array are set up.
• The cluster and client networks are redundant.
• The cluster software is installed on all servers (Linux only; MSCS is part of the Windows OS
installation).
• The cluster is set up, and clustered servers can communicate with each other (Linux only).
• The pair/resync monitor port is set up in the /etc/services file (Linux only). For more
information, see the HP StorageWorks P9000 Cluster Extension Software Administrator Guide.
• A failover test proves bidirectional communications in the Continuous Access setup for all
configured CUs.
• Download the P9000 Cluster Extension Software.
Browse to http://www.hp.com/go/softwaredepot.1.

3. Follow the on-screen instructions to download the installer.
Requirements for RAID Manager instances
When working with RAID Manager instances, be aware of the following:
• RAID Manager instances can communicate using the most reliable network (heartbeat network)
and at least one alternate network.
• Application services using P9000 Cluster Extension must use the same RAID Manager instances.
• To provide the best failover capability, RAID Manager instances should be running at all times.
P9000 Cluster Extension provides a script to start RAID Manager instances in the system boot
process.
• For rolling disaster protection, use the same RAID Manager instances to manage P9000 and
XP Business Copy pairs.
For more information about the P9000 Cluster Extension dependency on RAID Manager, see the
P9000 StorageWorks P9000 Cluster Extension Software Administrator Guide.
Required disk array microcode and software
Failover operations depend on the installed array microcode and RAID Manager software. Host
mode and Fibre Channel port settings for CHAs vary depending on the operating system and
microcode version. For specific microcode and software versions, see the SPOCK website: Single
Point of Connectivity Knowledge (SPOCK).
