HP StorageWorks EVA Cluster Extension Software Installation Guide (T3667-96044, April 2010)
NOTE:
HP recommends using the same LUN for all servers in the cluster.
This step assumes that you have created your remote host entry on the destination storage system as
described in “Creating hosts” on page 13.
For detailed instructions, see the HP StorageWorks Command View EVA User Guide or the HP
StorageWorks Storage System Scripting Utility Reference.
Configuring LVM
The shared data disks used by EVA Cluster Extension are part of a DR group, and reside on an HP
EVA that is mirrored to the remote data center using HP Continuous Access EVA. In a DR group, the
source disks have read/write access and the destination disks have read-only access. To access the
disks that are in read/write mode, the source disks must be in the local (currently active) data center.
Complete the following procedure to make each disk accessible to the nodes in the remote data
center:
1. On the source side (local data center), create the volume groups, logical volumes, and file systems
that will be used with the Linux clusters.
2. Use Command View EVA to switch the DR mode of the destination side DR groups to source.
This allows nodes in the remote data center to access the shared disks with read/write access.
3. Create mount points on each node in the remote data center, and then use vgscan to import
volume groups and logical volumes.
NOTE:
For more information about using LVM, see your Linux cluster software documentation.
Installing and configuring the cluster software
Install and configure the cluster software for your Linux operating system. See the SLE HA and RHCS
documentation for detailed installation procedures.
NOTE:
A properly configured and fully functioning cluster solution is a prerequisite for the EVA Cluster
Extension Software.
Installing EVA Cluster Extension Software for Linux
EVA Cluster Extension Software provides an installation script for Linux. This script installs the software
with SLE HA or RHCS.
Use this procedure to install the following components:
• SLE HA and RHCS integration executable (clxevalxcs).
