HP 3PAR SUSE Linux Enterprise Implementation Guide

1. To create host definitions, issue the createhost [options] <hostname> [<WWN>...]
command. For example:
# createhost -persona 1 susehost 1122334455667788 1122334455667799
2. As of HP 3PAR OS 3.1.3, a second host persona that enables asymmetric logical unit access
(ALUA) is available: host persona 2 (UARepLun,SESLun,ALUA). Host persona 2 is recommended
for SLES 10.4 or later and SLES 11.3 or later.. For example:
# createhost -persona 2 susehost 1122334455667788 1122334455667799
To display available host personas, issue the following command:
# showhost -listpersona
If the persona is not correctly set, then use the sethost -persona <hostpersonaval>
<host name> command. For example:
# sethost -persona 2 susehost
To display the new persona setting, use the showhost command. For example:
3. To verify that the host has been created, issue the showhost command.
# showhost
Id Name Persona -WWN/iSCSI_Name- Port
6 susehost Generic 1122334455667788 ---
1122334455667799 ---
NOTE: When an existing host persona is changed from 1 to 2, a host reboot is required tor the
change to take effect. This is an offline process. The host persona change should coincide with
changing the /etc/multipath.conf file on the host as well. This is an offline process. For the
detailed procedure, see “Modifying HP 3PAR Devices on the Host” (page 57).
NOTE: See the HP 3PAR Command Line Interface Reference or the HP 3PAR Management Console
User’s Guide for complete details on using the controlport, createhost, and showhost
commands.
