3 Required order for upgrade and installation of software
components
IMPORTANT: Installing this patch requires that all affected software components in your storage
environment be upgraded or installed in a specific order as detailed in the following list.
Please note that any listed host applications accessing the HP 3PAR storage system must be
upgraded to the specified software levels in order for the storage environment to take full advantage
of the patch functionality. Depending on the number of host applications in your storage
environment, the full installation process could take a considerable amount of time to complete.
Please note that the host application upgrades listed in step 1 below can be completed weeks
ahead of the remaining upgrade/install steps, if needed.
1. Upgrade the following to the revision level indicated in any order desired:
• Recovery Manager for Exchange (RME): 4.4.2
• Recovery Manager for SQL (RMS): 4.4.2
• Recovery Manager for HyperV (RMH): 1.1
• Recovery Manager for VMware (RMV): 2.4 –P01
• Recovery Manager for Oracle (RMO): 4.4 –P01
• VSS Provider: 2.2.2
• HP 3PAR Cluster Extension for Windows (CLX): 3.02.00
• Host Explorer: 2.1.0
• HP Storage Plug-in for SAP Landscape: 1.1
• HP StoreFront Analytics Pack for VMware vCOPS™: 1.0
2. Upgrade the HP 3PAR Management Console to: 4.4.2
3. Upgrade the CLI and SNMP to: 3.1.2 MU3 P16
4. Upgrade the Service Processor to: 4.1.0 MU2 P009
5. Upgrade the HP 3PAR StoreServ 7000 Storage SmartStart Software (SS) to: 1.2.2
6. Upgrade the HP 3PAR OS to: 3.1.2 P16
7. Finally, upgrade the following applications to the revision level indicated in any order desired:
• EVA to 3PAR Online Support: 10.3.1
• Storage Replication Adapter for VMware: 4.1.0, 5.1.1 or 5.5, depending on your
environment. See “Storage Replication Adapter for VMware Support Matrix” (page 7)
for more information.
• SCVMM UI add-in: 1.0.1
• 3PAR SRA for VMware vCenter SRM: 4.1
• System Reporter (SR): 3.1 MU2
• HP Metrocluster / Serviceguard: B.12.00.00
The patch has impact on the HP Metrocluster for 3PAR product. It is recommended to
generate the cert or the certificate exception file and save it in all HP Metrocluster 3PAR
package nodes of the cluster. HP Metrocluster supports only the default location of the
cert or the certification file. For more information about the impact of the patch on HP
