HP 3PAR StoreServ 10000 Storage Physical Planning Manual

Location of Envisaged Rack
30 in. (76.2 cm) of service clearance is needed on both sides of the front of the cabinet. Required as two
people must lift it into the cabinet, and space is needed on each side for the person to stand and maneuver
the chassis.
30 in. (76.2 cm) of unobstructed clearance is needed
directly behind the chassis to service the nodes (e.g.,
no PDUs, power-strips, power cord routing and other
stuff attached to the back of their rack). This must be
UNOBSTRUCTED clearance, directly behind the node
chassis in order to service (remove or install) a
controller node. There can be NOTHING behind the
10400, or the drive chassis, that would obstruct
removal of FRU's.
Envisaged Rack to be Used for Installation
Rack is/will be operational and has enough space
for the installation. It is not part of the Install/Upgrade
Service to build the rack, from scratch, or to
re-rack/move existing components. There must be at
least 25U of contiguous rack space to install two drive
chassis (4U for each), the SP (1U), node chassis (15U),
cable-routing trough (1U), and optional/additional
drive chassis (4U for each). See the layout diagram
to the right.
Installation can only be into 4-post racks (NOT 2-post racks). The vertical RETMA rails must have square holes.
Customer cabling (power, FC, Ethernet) must be routed so it does not restrict node removal or obstruct servicing
in any way.
Node Chassis Installation Notes
Requires two people to lift from the sides of the chassis to install (44.5 kg/98 lb).
The shelf-rails it is mounted on should be at least 12 inches from the floor. Less than 12 inches makes the
power supplies very hard to service (you have to lay on the floor).
