For switch authentication: Enter the switch IP addresses, separating each address with a semicolon;
then click Next. When using switch authentication, enter multiple switch IP addresses. If you do not,
Fabric Manager access is not available when the switch is down.
The SAN size selection window opens.
15.Select the size of the SAN that Fabric Manager is to manage (Table 5 lists the polling rates for each
SAN size).
16.Click Next.
The Important Information window opens.
17. Read the information and then click Next.
You are prompted to wait while the Fabric Manager server is started (this might take a few minutes).
After the Fabric Manager server is started, the Configure Client Options window opens.
18.Enter the Fabric Manager server IP address using the following guidelines, or enter localhost or the
DNS/WINS name if you want to use Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP):
The limit is 65 characters, including .com, .net, or .org.
Use only alphanumeric values and dashes (-). Spaces and other characters are not permitted.
Do not begin or end with a dash (-).
If the server workstation is not a member of the specified domain, Fabric Manager authentication
succeeds for any user credentials (if the guest account on the workstation is enabled). To ensure that the
security of your Fabric Manager server is not compromised, your Windows guest user permissions must
be disabled and your Fabric Manager server workstation must be a member of the domain you specify.
NOTE: See the Windows documentation you received with your workstation for instructions on disabling
Windows Guest user permissions.
19. Click Next.
The Get User Input window opens.
20.Select Install Now if you do not already have the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 installed. The
Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 is required for generating Excel reports.
21.Click Next.
The Install Complete window opens.
22.Optional: Click the View Readme check box to open the ReadMe file after exiting the installation
wizard.
23.Click Done to exit the install wizard.
Installing Fabric Manager client only (for Windows)
To install the Fabric Manager client:
1. Double-click the Windows folder from the Fabric Manager Installation CD-ROM.
2. Double-click the Install icon.
3. Click the version you would like to install (Full or Evaluation) and then click Next.

*Medium SANs can take between 5 and 10 minutes to update for some actions. Large SANs can take between 30
to 60 minutes to update for some actions. Issue a refresh manually for immediate updates. Using Refresh Status
Information to refresh a switch typically provides quicker updates than refreshing an entire fabric.
