1. User 1 sends a multicast query for a printer.
2. AP 1 receives the query and stores it.
3. AP 1 checks its records for printer announcements. There is one from Printer 1, so AP 1 unicasts
the query to Printer 1. It also multicasts the query onto Network 1.
• Printer 1 receives the query and sends a multicast response.
• Printer 2 receives the query and sends a multicast response onto Network 1.
• The controller receives the query. The Bonjour gateway feature on the controller relays
the query from Network 1 to Network 2, where Printer 3 receives the query and sends
a multicast response. The controller relays the response back to Network 1.
4. AP 1 receives the responses from Printer 1, Printer 2, and Printer 3. The query from User 1
remains active on the AP for seven seconds. All responses that are received within seven
seconds are unicast to User 1 by the AP. The AP does not send the responses to any other
wireless clients.
