The scanning mode that an AP uses is determined by the setting of Operating mode.
Access point only: In these modes, scanning operates in the background. The radio periodically
switches away from the operating channel for a short period of time to listen for activity on
non-operating channels. The amount of time dedicated for scanning is defined by the settings
you make for Neighborhood scanning.
Monitor: In this mode, the radio only performs scanning. Wireless services are not available.
Local mesh only and Access point and Local mesh: Scanning is not supported in these modes.
Neighborhood scanning settings
IDS uses the same scanning settings as RRM. For details, see “Neighborhood scanning settings
(page 186).
Viewing IDS results
To view the results of IDS scans, select Controlled APs >> Security, and then view the following
pages.
IDS page
This page provides a summary of IDS activity across all groups and APs. Click a group name to
see IDS information for a single group only.
Context information
Controlled radios used for scanning: Number of radios on all controlled APs that are
participating in IDS scanning.
Controlled radios total: Total number of radios on all controlled APs.
