Version: MSM v6.2.0.1 Description These Release Notes provide important release-related information. NOTE: In this document, except when identifying specific models, the generic term “controller” is used in place of MSM7xx Controller product names and the generic term “AP” is used in place of MSM3xx / MSM4xx / HP 425 Access Point product names.
NOTE: Due to a problem with AP channel use validation, a banner similar to this may appear at the top of the Home screen: AP CNxxxxxxxx, Radio 1 channel configuration has been set to autochannel because the previously configured channel Auto is not supported by this version of software. The same message is added to the system log. These messages can be safely ignored.
GMS (Guest Management Software) HP GMS simplifies centralized guest-account creation from any Microsoft Windows-based computer. It provides centralized, real-time management of visitor accounts and sessions with a configurable visitor session duration per account. The intuitive user interface is designed for receptionists and clerical staff with minimal training.
New option added to the AP management page The Use AP name as DHCP client hostname option has been added (as shown by the blue box). Use AP name as DHCP client hostname: Use this option to control how the DHCP hostname is assigned to the AP. • Enabled: The AP will use the access point name as the hostname for all DHCP requests (using DHCP option 12). This is the name that will identify the AP in the host’s DHCP table.
New page LLDP settings Transmit interval Sets the interval (in seconds) at which local LLDP information is updated and TLVs are sent to neighboring network devices. Multiplier The value of Multiplier is multiplied by the Transmit interval to define Time to live. Time to live Indicates the length of time that neighbors will consider LLDP information sent by this agent to be valid. Time to live is calculated by multiplying Transmit interval by Multiplier.
Specify how the dynamically generated name will be created. You can use regular text in combination with placeholders to create the name. Placeholders are automatically expanded each time the name is regenerated. If the placeholders cause the generated name to exceed 32 characters, the name is shortened to less than 32 characters. IMPORTANT: Once a system name is dynamically changed by this feature, there is no way to automatically return to the original system name.
New page Using the new firmware validation options CAUTION: Always make a backup of your existing configuration before installing new firmware. Manual install To manually update the controller software, do the following: 1. Select Browse, and then locate a firmware file and select it. 2. Select Validate if you want to test the integrity of the selected firmware file without installing it. A message will appear at the top of the page indicating whether the firmware signature is valid or invalid. 3.
Configuration settings are preserved during the update. However, all active connections will be terminated. Users will have to log in again after the controller restarts. GMS support for teaming GMS 6.2.0.0 supports teaming in MSM software 6.2.0.0 with the following limitations: • Only the team manager controller is supported. GMS interacts only with the team manager controller and not member controllers. • Subscription plans not supported.
controller. The following SOAP function calls that were not available in previous versions are re-enabled in MSM software version 6.2.0.0. • UpdateUserAccountMaxConcurrentSession: The user account limit is per controller instead of being applied globally to the team. • UpdateUserAccountValidity: This function will return an error if subscription plans are selected to set the account validity.
Fixes Version 6.2.0.1 includes a fix to the following issue: • (Applies to HP 425.) The potential for a flash memory error was detected in the software. This error has a low probability of occurrence, but if it does occur, the unit might reboot. Version 6.2.0.0 includes fixes to the following issues that were seen with MSM720, MSM760, and MSM765 zl controllers: • IP routing cache does not flush, potentially causing the controller to behave sluggishly after 24 hours of use.
• The IP address for a VLAN interface cannot be set on a controller after it has been set up for teaming (even after the controller has left the team). • (Applies to teaming.) The primary controller on a team is unable to remove IDS AP authorization on the secondary controllers. • The MSM7xx Controller experiences high CPU utilization and eventually reboots when IMC or a similar SNMP intensive software is used to manage the controller or a team of controllers.
• (Applies to teaming.) It is possible to delete a MAC list that is still being used by the AP or controller. If this happens, the AP or team will not synchronize. • In controlled mode, the filter settings for the web system log shown at the AP level do not work. The default values are always used (severity level higher than or equal to warning). • The RRM network completeness analysis may take longer than expected (up to 3 minutes).
• (Applies to MSM410, HP 425, MSM430, MSM460, MSM466, MSM466-R.) When Intrusion Detection System (IDS) is enabled, AP radios on that (team of) controller(s) should not be configured in Access Point and Local Mesh or Local Mesh only. As a workaround, IDS must be disabled on the controller if Access Point and Local Mesh or Local Mesh only operation is required. • (Applies to MSM422.
