This document contains information specific to the release of XCS 09501200, which applies to the
following array models:
• HP StorageWorks 4400 Enterprise Virtual Array (EVA4400), which includes the HSV300 controller
enclosure, HSV300-S controller enclosure, and the M6412 and M6412A disk enclosures
• HP StorageWorks 6400 Enterprise Virtual Array (EVA6400), which includes the HSV400 controllers
and the M6412A disk enclosure
• HP StorageWorks 8400 Enterprise Virtual Array (EVA8400), which includes the HSV450 controllers
and the M6412A disk enclosure

NOTE:
Initial release documentation was finalized referencing XCS 09500000, which was superseded by
XCS 09501000, XCS 09501100, and now XCS 09501200. No changes have been made to the
documentation except in these release notes and the HP StorageWorks Enterprise Virtual Array
compatibility reference . All information about XCS 09500000 in the following documents is
interchangeable with XCS 09501200:

If you are currently running XCS 09500000 or 09501000, HP strongly recommends that you upgrade
to XCS 09501200. If you are successfully running XCS 09501100 and you do not use Emulex HBAs
in your HP-UX environment, you do not need to upgrade.
Enhancements
XCS 09501200 contains the following functionality:
• Array support. Support for the EVA6400 and EVA8400 is added. For more information, see the
QuickSpecs for your array, available on the HP EVA Arrays website http://www.hp.com/go/
eva.
• EVA management software support. HP Command View EVA 9.0 and 9.0.1 (both server-based
management and array-based management) are supported with XCS 09501100 and 09501200.
The array-based management version is only supported on the EVA4400, and is installed on the
management module in the controller enclosure, which reduces the need for a management server.
(A management server is still required for HP Continuous Access EVA support and other manage-
ment tasks.) Without a management server in a direct connect environment, this allows for an
additional Fibre Channel port, per controller, that you can use to directly connect to a Windows,
