• Replication software support. HP Replication Solutions Manager 5.0 is supported with XCS
09003000 or later. HP Replication Solutions Manager is an optional interface that offers enhanced
management of local and remote replication and is offered at no charge. It includes the user inter-
face for HP Business Copy EVA and HP Continuous Access EVA. For more information, see the
HP StorageWorks Replication Solutions Manager 5.0 release notes.
NOTE:
HP Business Copy EVA and HP Continuous Access EVA are optional replication features. You
must purchase a license to use these features. See the HP StorageWorks Enterprise Virtual Array
compatibility reference for more information about local and remote replication support.
• HP Continuous Access EVA persistent bitmap. The bitmap used to enable a fast copy after a log
full condition is now persisted, ensuring that a fast copy can be performed even after a controller
resynchronizes or reboots.
NOTE:
The DR group state does not reflect a fast copy or a full copy. To make this distinction, you must
look at the log after the copy completes. The firmware does not send an event notification indicating
that a fast sync version of copy is being used.
• HP Continuous Access EVA fast copy after instant restore. For remote replication, the controller
software performs a fast copy of the restored source volume instead of a full copy. This reduces
the amount of copy I/O required to re-normalize the target volume.
• DR group member LUN shrink. Added support for shrinking the source virtual disk of a DR group.
• Snapshot support. The maximum number of snapshots per source virtual disk has increased to 64.
The maximum number of simultaneous snapshots, snapclones, or mirrorclone fractures has increased
to 28. Use the HP StorageWorks Storage System Scripting Utility ADD MULTISNAP or SET
MULTIMIRROR commands to perform these tasks.
• Management module firmware support. The latest version of firmware, 0001.2010, is supported
with XCS 09501100 and 09501200. The management module applies to the EVA4400 only.
• Solid state disk drive support. The EVA4400 and EVA6400/8400 support the use of solid state
disk (SSD) drives under the following conditions:
• A minimum controller software version of XCS 09501100
• M6412 and M6412A disk enclosure only
• A separate disk group for SSD drives
• A minimum of six and a maximum of eight drives per array in an SSD disk group
• All HP Business Copy EVA functions are supported. However, snapclones between an SSD
disk group and a non-SSD disk group are not supported.
• HP Continuous Access EVA functions are not supported
• Support for Vraid5 only
• LUN extend and shrink is not supported
• Virtual disk support. Create and manage up to 2048 virtual disks (LUNs) per array running XCS
