This Quickstart shows you how to install and get started using the HP 517 802.11ac Unified Walljack [J9841A (AM), J9842A (WW), J9843A (JP), J9844A (IL)],

hereafter referred to as the HP 517.

The HP 517 is a wired-WLAN walljack with an integrated four-port (plus uplink) managed Ethernet switch that can be installed in a standard electrical outlet box.

Off Radio LAN (1 to 4) • The radio is enabled, but there is no network activity. Amber Flashing indicates wireless network activity in 2.4 GHz mode. Green Flashing indicates wireless network activity in 5 GHz mode. Off The port is not connected or there is no activity. Amber Flashing indicates network activity on a valid 10/ 100 Mbps link.

HP 517 802.11ac Unified Walljack Quickstart 4 Installation Installation The HP 517 is designed to be mounted in a standard NEMA-WD6 (US) or BS 4662 (worldwide) electrical outlet box. The mounting bracket is mounted first, and then the HP 517 is attached to the bracket. The HP 517 can also be mounted on a desktop or wall (requires an optional mount kit, sold separately).

Connect equipment that requires PoE to Port 4. 2. Connect other equipment to Ports 1, 2, or 3. 3. Connect equipment that will use the pass-through feature (such as a digital telephone) to the Pass Through port on the side of the HP 517.
