Planning and Implementation for the HP 5400R zl2 Switches
PoE/POE+ Provisioning
PoE/POE+ Provisioning
Each chassis provisions (allocates power to) ports 1-24 of each module with
the watts associated with the specific power supply installed. The power for
PoE applications is compatible with the IEEE 802.3af standard and IEEE 802.3at
(PoE+) standard and some pre-standard devices.
The 5406R zl2 switches can supply up to 4625 [(2500 *2)* 92.5%)] watts of
PoE/PoE+ power with two J9830A power supplies.
The 5412R zl2 switches can supply up to 9250 [(2500 *4)* 92.5%)] watts of
PoE/PoE+ power with four J9830A power supplies.
The J9828A power supply provides up to 275 watts of PoE power. If
two J9828As are installed they can supply up to 508W[(275x2) * 92.5%]
of PoE/PoE+ power and if four are installed they can supply up to
1018 watts of PoE/PoE+ power.
The J9829A power supply provides up to 900 watts of PoE power. If
two J9829As are installed they can supply up to 1665 watts of PoE
power and if four are installed they can supply up to 3330 watts of
PoE/PoE+ power.
The J9830A power supply provides up to 2500 watts of PoE/PoE+
power at 115-127V and 1100 watts of PoE/PoE+ power at 200-240V.
Mixing this power supply with any other type of power supply is
supported. For more information, see Table 14-2 on page 14-10.
Note The three types of power supplies can be mixed (although not recommended),
that is, one or two J9828As, one or two J9830As, and one or two J9829As can
be installed at the same time depending on which of the Series 5400R zl2
Switches are being used.
