Planning and Implementation for the

HP 2530-PoE+ Switches

Introduction

This chapter discusses the planning process you should follow to successfully

implement PoE or PoE+ using an HP 2530-PoE+ Switch. See “General

Considerations” for an example list of considerations during the planning

phase.

HP 2530-PoE+ Switches

The HP 2530-8-PoE+ Switch (J9780A) has 8 PoE+ integrated, auto-sensing

10/100Base-TX RJ-45 ports with two dual-personality gigabit uplink ports. The

dual-personality ports do not support PoE/PoE+.

The HP 2530-8G-PoE+ Switch (J9774A) has 8 PoE+ integrated, auto-

sensing 10/100/1000Base-T RJ-45 ports with two dual-personality gigabit

uplink ports. The dual-personality ports do not support PoE/PoE+.

The HP 2530-24-PoE+ Switch (J9779A) has 24 PoE+ integrated, auto-

sensing 10/100Base-TX RJ-45 ports, two 10/100/1000Base-T RJ-45 ports, and

two gigabit uplink SFP ports. The Gig-T and SFP ports do not support PoE/

PoE+.
