Planning and Implementation for the
HP 2615 and HP 2915G Switches
Introduction
This chapter discusses the planning process you should follow to successfully
implement PoE using an HP 2615 or HP 2915G Switch. See “General
Considerations” on page A-1 for an example list of considerations during the
planning phase.
HP 2615-8-PoE Switch
The HP 2615-8-PoE Switch (J9565A) has 8 PoE-integrated auto-sensing
10/100Base-TX RJ-45 ports with two dual-personality gigabit uplink ports.
There is no power redundancy for this switch.
HP 2915-8G-PoE Switch
The HP 2915-8G-PoE Switch (J9562A) has 8 PoE-integrated auto-sensing
10/100/1000Base-T RJ-45 ports with two dual-personality gigabit uplink ports.
There is no power redundancy for this switch.
These switches also support some pre-standard PoE devices. For a list of these
devices, see the FAQs for your switch model. This feature is enabled by default
on both the HP 2615 and HP 2915 Switches.
The dual-personality ports have either auto-sensing 10/100/1000Base-T RJ-45
or SFP connectivity. The dual-personality ports do not support PoE.
