The zl2 switches can be mounted with an optional 4U/7U Universal Rail Kit (J9852A). These rails

stabilize the switch, so that the rack or the cabinet can be shipped without removing the switch.

If the rack is to be shipped in an HP Shock Rack and the weight of the configured 5406R exceeds 55

pounds or if the weight of the configured 5412R exceeds 72 pounds, then use the Rail Mounting Kit

(5070-0145) for shipment in HP 10000 series Rack Rail Kit along with the Universal Rail Kit (J9852A).

Note

Even though the illustrations show a 5412R zl2 switch, the instructions apply to all zl2 chassis models.

HP 4U/7U Universal Rail Kit Installation for HP Switches

The HP 4U/7U Universal Rail Kit (J9852A) is used to mount supported switches in four-post racks or

cabinets. This rail kit stabilizes and supports the switch.

Note

The illustrations may not match your particular switch model. Screw locations may vary.

1. Install the rails into the rack.

Install the universal rail into the rack at the top-most rack U of the switch as shown in the

following illustration.

Use a #1 Phillips (cross-head) screwdriver and two included 8-mm M4 flat head screws to attach a hold-down bracket to the chassis. Ensure that each hold-down bracket is positioned at the lower rear corners of the chassis.
