5 Upgrading the SPE-SSL-200
The SPE-SSL-200 supports software upgrade through the console port on the module and the service port
of the router. For more information about how to upgrade the SPE-SSL-200, see HP Security Modules
Software Upgrade Guide.
The SPE-SSL-200 adopts independent boot and application programs, so the boot menu is different from
the router. To upgrade the application program of the SPE-SSL-200, use one of the following ways:
1. Remote upgrade at the CLI
• Use the FTP/TFTP protocol through the console port of the SPE-SSL-200 and the service port of the
router.
2. Local upgrade through the boot menu
• Use the XMODEM protocol through the console port of the SPE-SSL-200
• Use the FTP/TFTP protocol through the console port of the SPE-SSL-200 and the service port of the
router.
NOTE:
• The SPE-SSL-200 does not support software upgrade through a main processing unit (MPU) of the
router.
• The SPE-SSL-200 does not provide management interface on its panel, you need to use a crossover
ethernet cable to connect the service port (for example, GigabitEthernet 3/0/1) of the router to the PC
(FTP or TFTP server), and ensure that the module can communicate with the PC at Layer 3.
• Using the XMODEM protocol to up
g
rade the module is relatively slow. To reduce the up
g
rade time, HP
recommends you to upgrade the module through the FTP/TFTP protocol.
