5 Upgrading the IM-FW-II
The IM-FW-II supports software upgrade through the console port and a management Ethernet interface
on the module. For more information about how to upgrade the IM-FW-II, see HP Security Modules
Software Upgrade Guide.
The IM-FW-II adopts independent boot and application programs, so the boot menu is different from the
router. To upgrade the application program of the IM-FW-II, use one of the following ways:
1. Upgrade through the web interface
• Log in to the web interface through the default management Ethernet interface of the IM-FW-II
(GigabitEthernet 0/1 with IP address 192.168.0.1/24) by using the default web login information
(username admin and password admin). After login, select Device Management > Software
Upgrade from the navigation tree to enter the Software Upgrade page. Then perform related
configurations to upgrade the software.
• During the software upgrade process, do not perform any operation on the web interface.
Otherwise, software upgrade may be interrupted.
2. Remote upgrade at the command line interface (CLI)
• Use the FTP/TFTP protocol through the management Ethernet interface of the IM-FW-II.
3. Local upgrade through the boot menu
• Use the XMODEM protocol through the console port of the IM-FW-II
• Use the FTP/TFTP protocol through the management Ethernet interface of the IM-FW-II.
