Item Description
Auto-RP
Enable or disable auto-RP.
IMPORTANT:
Auto-RP announcement and discovery messages are addressed to the multicast group
addresses 224.0.1.39 and 224.0.1.40 respectively. With auto-RP enabled on a
device, the device can receive these two types of messages and record the RP
information carried in such messages.
Register checksum
Calculate the register message checksum based on the entire register messages or the
header parts.
IMPORTANT:
In view of information integrity of register messages in the transmission process, you
can configure the device to calculate the checksum based on the entire register
messages. However, to reduce the workload of encapsulating data in register
messages and for the sake of interoperability, this method of checksum calculation is
not recommended.
SSM policy
Configure the SSM group range.
You can define the multicast group range by selecting the check box and specifying the
ACL. If a group address falls into the SSM group range, multicast data is delivered
based on the PIM-SSM model; otherwise, it is delivered based on the PIM-SM model.
Click the Select button to enter the page displaying the existing basic ACLs. Select an
ACL as needed and click Back to finish the operation and return to the PIM advanced
configuration page. In addition, in the basic ACL displaying page, you can add,
modify, or delete a basic ACL, or configure ACL acceleration for the ACL. For more
information, see Access Control Configuration Guide.
If the check box is not selected, the SSM group range is 232.0.0.0/8, no matter an
ACL is specified or not.
IMPORTANT:
• You can configure the SSM group range. If the group address falls into the SSM
group range, the information from a multicast source is delivered based on the
PIM-SSM model; otherwise, it is delivered based on the PIM-SM model.
• Make sure that the same SSM group range is configured on all routers in the entire
domain. Otherwise, multicast information cannot be delivered through the SSM
model.
• When a member of a multicast group in the SSM group range sends an IGMPv1 or
IGMPv2 report message, the device does not trigger a (*, G) join.

Displaying PIM neighbor information
Select Network > Routing Management > PIM from the navigation tree and click Neighbor Information
to enter the page displaying the PIM neighbor information, as shown in Figure 220.
