Status of a RADIUS server changes. If a NAS sends an accounting or authentication request to the
RADIUS server but gets no response, the NAS retransmits the request and then sends a trap
message when the NAS transmits the request for half of the specified maximum number of
transmission attempts. If the specified maximum number of transmission attempts is odd, the half of
the number refers to the smallest integer greater than the half of the number. In addition, if a
RADIUS server in unavailable status can receive the request sent from a NAS, the NAS considers
the RADIUS server is reachable and also sends a trap message.
Ratio of failed transmission attempts to total transmission attempts reaches the threshold. A NAS
sends a trap message due to a failure ratio larger than the threshold.
With the RADIUS trap function, a NAS sends a trap message in either of the two situations:
The state of a RADIUS server changes. If a NAS sends an accounting or authentication request to
the RADIUS server but gets no response, the NAS retransmits the request. If the NAS transmits the
request for half of the specified maximum number of transmission times, it sends a trap message. In
addition, if a RADIUS server in down status can respond to requests, the NAS considers the RADIUS
server is reachable again and also sends a trap message.
The ratio of failed transmission attempts to total transmission attempts reaches the threshold.
