Modem serial port specifications
Each CP card has a modem serial port (labeled RS-232) with a fully RS-232 compliant DB-9
connector.
The modem port can be used for attaching a modem to each CP card. The 4/256 SAN Director
detects modems only during the power-on or reboot sequences, and automatically initializes them
for operation. If modems are connected to an operating switch, a power on/off cycle, reboot, or
fast reboot is required to detect the modem(s).
If both modems are connected to the telephone line by a “Y” cable, the active CP card answers on
the first ring; if the active CP card fails to answer, the standby CP card answers on the seventh ring.
