Fabric OS V6.2.0e_upgrade

Overview

This document is provided for the Fabric OS (FOS) V6.2.0e_upgrade release in lieu of traditional

release notes. This release is intended to be used to facilitate upgrades from FOS 6.1.x to FOS 6.3.x

in FICON environments only. It is intended to eliminate the risk of encountering a specific known

issue. This release is not intended to be used on any platform for extended durations or for any

non-FICON environments.

Description

The FOS V6.2.0e_upgrade is functionally identical to the FICON-qualified FOS 6.2.0e release, with

the exception of having a fix for a compact flash access error issue seen when upgrading from FOS

6.1.x to FOS 6.2.x on an HP StorageWorks DC SAN Backbone Director, HP StorageWorks DC04

SAN Director, or HP StorageWorks 8/80 SAN Switch. If encountered, this access error causes either

a reboot of the affected CP in the director, or failure of the HP 8/80 SAN Switch.

NOTE:

This defect is fixed in FOS 6.2.2b and later maintenance/patch releases and FOS 6.3.0d, 6.3.1a,

and later releases.

For more information on this defect, contact your local HP support team.

For environments that do not require a FICON-qualified version of FOS, HP recommends FOS 6.2.2b,

6.3.0d, 6.3.1a or later.

When to use the Fabric OS V6.2.0e_upgrade

This release is intended for FICON environments only. The FICON-qualified versions of FOS v6.x are

6.1.0c, 6.1.1a, 6.2.0e, 6.3.0b, and 6.3.0d. Upgrade sequence for 6.1.0c, 6.1.1a, or 6.2.0e to

6.3.0d is as follows:

• If you are running FOS 6.1.0c or 6.1.1a, do the following to upgrade to FOS 6.3.0d (the recom-

mended version of FOS for FICON at the time of this document release):

1. Upgrade from FOS 6.1.0c or 6.1.1a to FOS 6.2.0e_upgrade.

. Upgrade to FOS 6.3.0d. • If you are running FOS 6.2.0e, you can upgrade directly to FOS 6.3.0d. It is not necessary to install the FOS V6.2.0e_upgrade. • If you are currently running FOS 6.1.0c or 6.1.1a, HP recommends that you not upgrade to 6.2.0e. Follow the steps listed earlier to upgrade to FOS V6.2.0e_upgrade, and then to FOS 6.3.0d.
