Using flash media devices to deploy
software and updates
This HP-qualified blank USB key, blank SD card, or blank MicroSDHC card is
provided for use with HP ProLiant servers that support the VMware virtualization
environment and other HP value-add software. These instructions apply to all HP
Enterprise Performance Flash Media devices qualified on HP ProLiant servers.
1. Download the HP USB Key Utility for Windows from one of the locations on
the HP website:
o HP website (http://www.hp.com/go/foundation) (at the downloads
tab; scroll down to the USB Key Utility section)
o HP website (http://www.hp.com/servers/easysetup)
2. Use the utility to transfer the contents of one of the following CDs to the USB
key:
o HP SmartStart CDs
o HP Smart Update Firmware DVDs (effective 29 March 2010).
o HP Easy Set-up CDs supporting ProLiant G6 servers and later (effective
29 March 2010).
HP VMware ESXi
Verify that your ProLiant server supports VMware ESXi. Review the support
matrix at the HP website (http://www.hp.com/go/ossupport) for the list of
ProLiant servers that support VMware ESXi.
To use this key for VMware ESXi 3.5 or later:
1. Install the device in an internal slot in the server.
2. Download the VMware ESXi software and the documentation from the HP
website (http://www.hp.com/go/esxidownload).
3. See the Getting Started Guide for additional details.
Replaceable spare parts
Your HP limited warranty might include a parts only warranty service. Under the
terms of parts only warranty service, HP provides replacement parts free of
charge.
