Configuring Software on Series 900 Systems Running MPE/iX Version 5.5 Power Patch 1 or Later

2 Select Create a New Kernel. Press [Return].

are you sure?

Select yes.

The message Creating kernel appears. The process takes one to two

minutes to complete.

3 You must move the new kernel you have just created into place before the

system is shut down or rebooted:

Select Move Kernel into Place.

Shut down or reboot the system and then select OK.

Configuring for MPE-iX

The HP 3000 Series 900 system must be running MPE version 5.5 Power Patch

1 or later.

This procedure includes adding paths. Before you add any paths, you should

run ODE from the ISL prompt and then run MAPPER to display the paths of all

configured devices.

1 Run the I/O Configurator from SYSGEN:

a Log on as MANAGER.SYS:

:HELLO MANAGER[/userpass].SYS[/acctpass]

Activate the SYSGEN global module by entering:

:SYSGEN

or by entering:

RUN SYSGEN.PUB.SYS

At the SYSGEN prompt, start the IO configurator:

sysgen>IO

2 Enter the configuration commands

a Add the transparent manager.

In the following example, the sample path is 24 and the sample SCSI ID is 0.

The SCSI ID should be the same as the value to which you set the autoloader

during installation (see page 2-4):

io>APATH PATH=24.0 ID=PSEUDO

Add the tape drive LUN.

The following example assumes the LUN is 0 and the MPE/iX logical device

number is 12:

io>ADEV PATH=24.0.0 LDEV=12 ID=A3716A
