Problems with Your Autoloader
The autoloader does not power up
Make sure that the power cord is connected properly to the autoloader and to
a working ac power socket. If the power is connected properly, the device has
probably failed. Contact customer support.
You cannot back up or restore
1 Check the front-panel display for any error messages (see Chapter 4).
2 Refer to the users manual for your backup software. This should contain a
list of error conditions and suitable remedies.
3 Check that the SCSI cable is connected properly.
4 Check that the SCSI terminator is installed and secure.
5 Check that the autoloader SCSI ID does not conflict with any other device
attached to the same SCSI controller.
6 Try using a different cartridge.
7 Clean the drives tape heads with a cleaning cartridge.
8 Check the environmental conditions against the autoloaders specified
limits. If necessary, move the autoloader to a more suitable site.
You can read tape cartridges but not write to them
1 Check that the cartridges are not write-protected (see page 6-4).
2 Check that the cartridges are Media Recognition System (see page 6-7).
There are problems with the tape cartridges
q
Are you using new cartridges or a different brand of cartridges?
q Have you been using the particular cartridge for a very long time?
1 Check that you are using a DDS-labeled cartridge, not a DAT cartridge.
2 Try the operation again.
3 If the problem still occurs, try using a new, unused cartridge.
4 Clean the drives tape heads with a cleaning cartridge.
5 If the problem is still there, the problem probably lies with the autoloader or
your computer.
