82 Monitoring alerts and events
To acknowledge alerts:
1. Click a switch or fabric name in the SAN Elements tab.
Any switches or fabrics with alerts include an alert icon adjacent to their name in the SAN Elements
tab, including the underlying color codes signifying severity.
2. Click Alerts.
The Alerts view displays a list of all the alerts for the switch or fabric you selected from the SAN
Elements tab.
3. Select the row that lists the alert you want to acknowledge.
4. Click Ack.
The Acked column value is changed from No to Yes, the Acked By column value displays your user
name, and the Acked Time column value displays the time that you acknowledged the alert. Also, the
alert icons displayed in the SAN Elements tab and At-A-Glance windows (in the Overview view) are no
longer displayed.
Resolving alerts
Fabric Manager alerts cannot be resolved manually. All alerts in Fabric Manager are resolved either when
the issue no longer exists or the baseline has changed so that the alert is no longer valid. See Table 13 on
page 80 for information about alert resolution scenarios.
Deleting alerts
Fabric Manager alerts must be deleted manually from the Alerts view. You can delete only alerts that have
been resolved. Any resolved alerts are identified with a Yes value in the Resolved column of the Alerts view.
To delete alerts:
1. Click a switch or fabric name in the SAN Elements tab.
Any switches or fabrics with alerts include an alert icon adjacent to their name in the SAN Elements
tab, including the underlying color codes signifying the severity.
2. Click Alerts.
The Alerts view displays a list of all the alerts for the switch or fabric you selected from the SAN
Elements tab.
3. Select the row that lists the alert you want to delete.
4. Click Delete.
The alert is deleted and removed from the Alerts view.
Configuring alert display options
By default, unacknowledged and unresolved alert information is displayed in bold type in the Alerts view.
You can change which type of alert information appears in bold type.
To configure alert display options:
1. Select Configuration > FM Options.
The Options dialog box opens.
2. Expand Server specific and click Alert Display Options.
The Alert Display Options pane opens (see Figure 38).
