■ The following OS file:

filename.swi

where filename indicates the OS version number; for example:

B_04_24.swi OS for the Switch 800T

■ Other files not used by the Switch 800T.

Note

For the Switch 800T use only an OS version file beginning with “B” (such as

B_04_24.swi ).

Version B.03.20 of the OS for the Switch 800T supports the HP J3192B and

HP J3192C 100Base-TX Twisted-Pair Transceiver Modules and the HP

J3193B 100Base-FX Fiber-Optic Transceiver Module. If it is necessary to

download a new version of the Switch 800T OS, use the latest version

available. The latest version is available electronically from Hewlett-

Packard. Refer to “Support is as close as the World Wide Web!” on page 20.

For more on software compatibility, see the relnotes.txt file included

on the disk(s) shipped with your HP J3192C or HP J3193B transceiver.

OS Download Steps. Use this procedure if you need to download a new

OS version to your Switch 800T. The procedure describes how to use a

personal computer (PC) to download the OS. (If you are using a UNIX

workstation, refer to the Note on page 14.)

1. Copy the files from the disk into the DOS directory you will use for

downloading to the switch. (You can also download directly from the

disk.)

2. Download the software upgrade by using one of the following methods:

• TFTP download using a TFTP server and the Download OS

option in the Switch 800T console interface: This is the recom-

mended download method if you have TFTP server access to the

Switch 800T. Refer to the instructions in chapter 8, “File Transfers”,

in the Installation and Configuration Guide you received with

your Switch 800T. For this option, use the form

filename.swi

for the Remote File Name parameter.
