The conversion factors provided in this appendix are intended to ease data calculation for systems that do not
conform specifically to the configurations listed in this Site Preparation Guide. The following list includes the
conversion factors used in this document, as well as additional conversion factors that might be helpful in
determining those factors required for site planning.
Conversion Factors
• Refrigeration
— 1 watt = 0.86 kcal/h
— 1 watt = 3.412 Btu/h
— 1 watt = 2.843 x 10-4 tons
— 1 ton = 200 Btu/min.
— 1 ton = 12,000 Btu/h
— 1 ton = 3,517.2 W
• Metric Equivalents
— 1 centimeter = 0.3937 in
—1 meter = 3.28 ft.
—1 meter = 1.09 yds
— 1 in. = 2.54 cm
— 1 ft. = 0.305 m
