This document provides procedur

es for installing the Dual

Power Input Kit for Mini Bus

Bars in an HP BladeSystem

p-Class system. Dual power boxes

enable two power enclosures

to be connected to mini bus bars to provide full power

redundancy for enhanced server blade enclosures.

Installation requirements

Before installing dual power boxes, be sure the following

components are installed:

• Power enclosures

• Server blade enclosures

• Mini bus bars

When installing the mini bus bars on the rack, move the hinge

locations up 3U to allow for the second power enclosure. A

fully power redundant mini bus bar configuration consists of a

mini bus bar kit (a kit contains a pair of mini bus bars) installed

on a rack connected to two power

enclosures and up to three

server blade enclosures.

Connecting the power cables to the dual power box IMPORTANT: Firmly press the connectors onto the pins until they are fully seated. The access cover does not fit properly if the connectors are not fully seated. Warnings and cautions WARNING: This equipment must be installed by a licensed electrician or trained service personnel familiar with high-power circuitry. These symbols, on power supplies or systems, indicate that the equipment is supplied by multiple sources of power.

Installing the access cover on the dual power box Reinstalling the mini bus bar cover IMPORTANT: The access cover fits properly only if the cables are installed correctly. Repeat the preceding steps for the second mini bus bar. Securing the mini bus bars Removing the mini bus bar cover WARNING: Power to all components must be off. Before beginning installation of this option, be sure that the power enclosure and hot-plug power supply LEDs are not illuminated.
