Myrinet System Interconnect Guide

Powering up procedure
To pow er up a Myrinet system interconnect, plug the power cord into the standard
C14 power jack labeled 100–127/200–240 V-. The power cord is rated 10A for the
5U interconnect, and 15A for the 9U chassis. There is no power switch on the
enclosure, which prevents an accidental network shutdown.
Typical operating temperatures for the components of the s witch are in the range
of 30–39 degrees Celsius (86–102 Fahrenheit). If you see temperatures in the range
of 50–55°C (122–131°F), the switch is too hot and shutdown may occur. Shutdown
occurs at 55°C (131°F) and operation resumes at 50°C (122°F).
The temperatures reported by the monitoring line card are not air temperatures,
but are the temperatures of the line card circuit boards on which the thermometer
chips are mounted. Hence, the temperatures reported are very close to the
temperatures of the components on the circuit boards. If the inlet air temperature
is 40°C (104°F), th e monitoring line c a rd circuit-board temperatures may be as
high as 50°C (122°F), even on the inlet side.
