HP Cluster Platform Overview
Connecting Console and Administrative Networks
Depending on your specific needs, the Console and Administrative Networks can be connected
in one of the following ways:
• The Console Root switch is connected to the Administrative Root switch.
• The Console Root switch is connected to a second Ethernet port on the Control Node, keeping
the Console and Administrative Network separate.
Regions
For very large systems, the cluster is divided into regions. Each region is a collection of nodes
under an Administrative Root switch. Regions are connected through a Super Root switch.
Figure 4 (page 7) illustrates a cluster with two regions.

NOTE: As in smaller HP Cluster Platforms, HP Cluster Platform with regions require one Control
Node and can have a second optional Control Node. If you use a second Control Node in a large
HP Cluster Platform, HP recommends that you install it in a different region than that which houses
the first Control Node.
