HP Cluster Platform Server and Workstation Overview

3.7.3 Replacing a PCI Card
The HP ProLiant DL585 supports the installation of both PCI (33 MHz and 66 MHz) and PCI-X
(66 MHz, 100 MHz, and 133 MHz) expansion boards. All PCI-X slots are 64-bit, 3.3-V keyed.
Figure 3-50 shows the HP ProLiant DL585 PCI-X expansion slots and buses. The system BIOS
detects the PCI-X devices in the slots in the following order: 8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1.

To replace a PCI expansion card, follow these steps:
1. Attach a grounding strap to your wrist or ankle and a metal part of the chassis.
2. Press the Power button to power down the server.
Note:
When the server powers down, the Power button LED changes from green to amber,
indicating Standby mode. In Standby mode, the server removes power from most electronics
and drives, but portions of the power supply and some internal circuitry remain active until
AC power is removed.
3. Disconnect the AC power cord, first from the AC outlet and then from the server.
4. Remove the server from the rack, as shown in Section 3.7.2.
5. Remove the access panel from the server, as shown in Figure 3-48, and locate the PCI slot.
