HP Cluster Platform Server and Workstation Overview

1.5.5 Cable Management
Each HP Integrity rx3600 that has a connection to the system interconnect requires one cable
bracket installed on the rear rack column. This component is documented in the HP Cluster
Platform Integrity rx3600 Cable Bracket Installation Guide.
1.6 HP Integrity rx4640
The HP Integrity rx4640 is a 4U, quad-processor server that typically functions as a control node,
utility node, or I/O node. It is a 4-socket system rack-mount server based on the Itanium 2
processor family architecture. The server accommodates up to 32 DIMMs and internal peripherals
including disks and DVD-ROM. Its high availability features include hot-swappable fans and
200-240 VAC power supplies, hot-pluggable disk drives, and hot-pluggable PCI-X cards.

All nodes are fitted with an MP that provides access to system console, reset, power management,
firmware upgrade, and system status via 10/100 LAN connections. The MP is powered from the
node's standby power source and is independent of the power on/off state of the node. Figure 1-27
shows the rear ports of the HP Integrity rx4640.

Table 1-13 describes the ports on the rear of the HP Integrity rx4640 that are used for connections
to other cluster components. These ports are identified by the callouts in Figure 1-27. Refer to
the cabling tables for explanations of the connection origins and destinations.
