1.3 Site Preparation and Planning Overview
Read the following topics in conjunction with the technical specifications included in the
appendixes of the online cluster documentation. See the Preface section titled Section for the
location of the online documentation. Information in this section is intended to help HP customers
and HP Global Deployment representatives to prepare an installation plan and schedule any
necessary site work. For example, it might be necessary for you to make physical modifications
to your site before you can receive the cluster for installation.
A cluster is delivered as pre-configured building block modules installed in HP model 10000-series
racks, usually a 42U (2-meter) rack. For some configurations, a shorter rack model might be
employed. The building block modules are packaged and mounted on shock pallets for shipping.
In addition to the information in this chapter, you should consult the following resources,
particularly if you are unfamiliar with the HP 10000 series rack or with the process of receiving
preconfigured systems:
