HP Cluster Platform Workgroup System Tower Hardware Installation Guide
4 Installation and Start-up
The Workgroup System Tower is integrated and factory tested before shipment to your site. The
operating system software is installed at the factory. To power-on your system after you have
inspected the unit, follow these steps:
Warning!
Be sure that all circuit breakers are locked in the off position before connecting any power
components.
1. Connect the power cables to the power supply, if necessary.
2. Connect the power cables to the power source or to a PDU.
3. Turn on the AC circuit breakers that supply power to the cables installed in the enclosure,
if necessary.
For more information on setting up the enclosure and powering on the system, see the HP
BladeSystem c3000 Enclosure Quick Setup Instructions:

Workgroup System Tower configurations ship with all of the modules and components installed.
If you intend to upgrade the enclosure, HP recommends that you read the HP BladeSystem c–Class
Enclosure User Guide before starting with the HP BladeSystem Onboard Administrator (OA) set
up. Reading this guide in order ensures that you will have an overall understanding of the HP
BladeSystem Onboard Administrator, and that you properly complete the initial set-up to facilitate
proper functioning of the Onboard Administrator. For more information, see the HP BladeSystem
Onboard Administrator User Guide:

4.2 Setting Up Local Networks
Connecting a Workgroup System Tower to a local area network (LAN) depends on the operating
system environment and site network protocol. Site preparation and planning is the key to having
the necessary topology to accomplish LAN connectivity. To connect to an external network, see
Section 4.2.1. To configure a virtual LAN (VLAN) for the administrative network, see Section 4.2.2.
4.2.1 Connecting to an External Network
An optional connection to an external 10/100/1000Base-T network is supported from the control
node server blade. The connection to an external network is made by connecting to one of the
external ports on the HP GbE2c switch installed in IMB1 of the c3000 enclosure.
