Web client Only the functions listed below can be used. The functions that are
unavailable with the Core CLI/SMI-S license are not displayed in the

• Creating, changing, and deleting users

Device Manager CLI The following logical group commands cannot be used:

• ModifyLogicalGroup

Device Manager server The following function cannot be used:

The following products that require Device Manager cannot be used:

HP StorageWorks XP Tiered Storage Manager software
• HP StorageWorks XP Replication Monitor software
HP StorageWorks XP Provisioning Manager software can be used
even if the Device Manager uses the Core CLI/SMI-S license.

Because logical groups cannot be used when using the Core CLI/SMI-S license, only All
Resources can be assigned as a resource group.
CAUTION: If the license keys registered in Device Manager include one or more full licenses,
Device Manager operates in full license mode.
1-2-2 Using Device Manager with the Core CLI/SMI-S
license
This subsection describes how to use Device Manager with the Core CLI/SMI-S license.
To use Device Manager with the Core CLI/SMI-S license:
1. Install the Device Manager server.
The installation procedure is the same as with a full license. For details on how to install the
Device Manager server, see Chapter
3 or Chapter 4.
2. Register the Core CLI/SMI-S license.
