HP StoreOnce B6200 Installation Planning and Preparation Guide (EJ022-90995, November 2013)

NOTE: The Power/PDU requirement varies depending upon the number of racks, couplets and
storage, and the input voltage.
PDU option and connector type

Power outlets, two outlets are required for the each couplet. But it is strongly recommended that
each rack be installed with four outlets to allow for ease of expansion, even if the rack has only
one couplet.

Backup strategy
Your backup strategy will impact upon networking and Fibre Channel decisions.
If you wish to use Virtual Tape, Fibre Channel connectivity is required. To ensure tolerance of
a node outage HP recommends using a backup application that supports path failover.
(StoreOnce VTL replication uses the Ethernet connectivity.)
Please note that the HP Data Protector DFMF (Distributed File Media Format) for Data Protector's
virtual full backups is not supported for use with the B6000 StoreOnce Backup System. This
format is very inefficient with deduplication devices. For further details see HP StoreOnce
Backup system Concepts and Configuration guidelines.
If you wish to backup to a NAS target, Ethernet connectivity is required. Backup and replication
jobs will use the same network paths to/from the nodes.
If you wish to backup to Catalyst stores, Ethernet connectivity is required. Backup and copy
jobs will use the same network paths to/from the nodes. if using Symantec NetBackup or
Backup Exec, you will also require the HP StoreOnce Catalyst OST 2.0 plugin, which must
be installed on each Media Server that is required to write data to the StoreOnce Catalyst
stores.
You can, of course, use a combination of all of the above within the same service set (node).

to add external users and groups on the same domain as StoreOnce users with access to all
StoreOnce features.
