Before you begin D6000 overview The D6000 is available in several standard-shipping configurations. For cabling purposes associated with this document, the primary types of configurations include the following: • Single-domain ready: One I/O module and one I/O blank are installed in each D6000 storage drawer. To convert a single-domain D6000 to dual-domain, obtain and install an additional 6G D6000 I/O module in each storage drawer.
D6000 I/O modules and SAS ports The following illustration shows D6000 I/O modules and SAS ports.
Cabling Connecting a D6000 in a single-domain environment to one server This example illustrates cabling for a single-domain environment, with both D6000 storage drawers being accessed by the same server. In this example, one 2-port controller is installed in the server. Note the following: • One cable from the D6000 storage drawer to the server provides single-domain connectivity.
Connecting a D6000 in a dual-domain environment to two servers This example illustrates cabling in a dual-domain environment, with each D6000 storage drawer being accessed by a different server. In this example, one 2-port controller is installed in each server. Note the following: • • Two cables from the D6000 storage drawer to the server provide dual-domain connectivity: o One cable connects to the D6000 primary I/O module, SAS port 1.
Connecting a D6000 in a dual domain environment to one server This example illustrates cabling in a dual-domain environment, with both D6000 storage drawers being accessed by the same server. In this example, a 4-port controller is installed in the server. Note the following: • • Two cables from the D6000 storage drawer to the server provide dual-domain connectivity: o One cable connects to the D6000 primary I/O module, SAS port 1. o One cable connects to the D6000 secondary I/O module, SAS port 1.
