Configuring SNMP settings
1. Select Tasks > Configure SNMP settings.
The SNMP Settings dialog box displays the default settings, as shown in Figure 101.

2. To change any of these settings, type the new value into the appropriate field and click Modify.
The default community string is 'public'.
The default re-try count (number of times an operation is attempted on failure) is 1.
The default operation timeout is 3 seconds.
Overwriting global settings
1. Select the Overwrite Settings tab.
2. Select an IP address from the list of configured IP addresses, or click Add to add an IP address
or range of IP addresses

3. Select the SNMP protocol to use.
The options that you can set depend on the protocol you choose: SNMPv1 or SNMPv3.
4. For SNMPv1, enter the desired read community string, and add or remove any IP addresses, as
needed.
For SNMPv3, select the required IP addresses from the table, or add a new IP address by
typing in the address in the text box below and by clicking Add. Specify the user name and
authentication parameters and privacy settings:
Authentication Protocol (MD5/SHA or No Authentication): If set to MD5/SHA,
Authentication Password and Privacy Protocol fields are enabled.
Authentication Password: The Authentication Password and Privacy Protocol fields are
disabled when the Authentication Protocol is set to No Authentication.
Privacy Protocol (DES or No Privacy): If set to DES, Privacy Password fields are enabled.
Privacy Password: The Privacy Password fields are disabled when the Privacy Protocol is
set to No Privacy.
1. For IPv4 IP addresses, define a range of IP addresses by specifying a wildcard such as 'a.b.c.*'.
Wildcards are not supported in IPv6 addresses.
