Configuration management
You can save entire or partial configurations of switch configuration files and use them to ensure
consistent switch settings in your fabric, propagate configuration settings to additional switches in
the fabric, and troubleshoot the switches.
You can use the Configuration Management tool within Fabric Manager to:
Recover fabric and switch settings.
Propagate a configuration to each new switch that you add to a fabric to ensure that the switch
is compatible with the fabric.
Propagate the configuration of one fabric throughout a second fabric before you merge the
fabrics.
Propagate a configuration throughout a fabric to ensure consistent Fabric Watch and SNMP
settings.
Switch configuration backup and restore
Fabric Manager provides a way for you to schedule periodic backups of the configuration on a
collection of switches.
If a switch is added to the fabric after the backup is scheduled, that switch is included in the list of
switches for which configuration is backed up.
If a periodic backup is scheduled at the SAN level, that backup will apply to all switches from all
fabrics discovered. Any new fabrics being discovered are automatically added to the list of fabrics
to be backed up.
When a switch is removed from Fabric Manager or a fabric is deleted from the Fabric Manager
server, the configurations associated with that switch are removed.
NOTE
If a backup is scheduled for more than one fabric and some of the fabrics contain common
members, the backup will include the unique switches obtained from the fabrics.
