Scheduling a backup
1. Select Tasks > Switch Configuration Management > Schedule Periodic Backup.
NOTE
To modify an existing backup, from the menu select Edit > Preferences, expand the server
specific list, and click Update Switch Configuration Backup. Make your changes in the
Preferences dialog box.
2. Set the Turn On/Of f Periodic Backup option to On.
3. Set the frequency and the start and end dates in the fields provided.
By default, backups are preformed daily, but you can set the frequency to weekly or monthly. By
defining a specific day or day of the week, you can refine the backup schedule.
4. Set the amount of time that older backups should be kept.
By default, configurations are kept for 30 days, but the range can be set for any number of
days between 1 and 90. Note that if backups are weekly, the age must be at least 8 days.
5. In Specify Configuration Elements, specify what you want backed up; the entire SAN or
selected fabrics.
Optionally, click Include Access Gateways in the Scheduled Backup (refer to Figure 109 on
page 167).
6. Click OK.
