Replicating configurations
11
Importing a configuration
1. On the configuration browser, click Import.
2. Select the configuration file to import from the file chooser that displays.
The imported configuration will be stored in the repository and available for use.
3. Optionally, download the configuration to a switch through Tasks > Replicate Configuration.
Imported configurations are not associated to any specific switch. To restore an imported
configuration, use the Tasks menu to download the imported configurations to a switch.
Restoring a configuration
1. In the configuration browser, select the row for the switch configuration to be restored.
2. Click Restore.
The configuration is downloaded to the switch from which it is backed up. If necessary, the
restoration process prompts you to disable and reboot the switch before the configuration
begins. This lets you determine if the configuration backup should be performed immediately
or at a later time.
If you confirm the restoration, the entire configuration is restored: you cannot perform selective
download for specific configuration sections.
Keeping a copy past the defined age limit
1. From the repository browser, select one or more configurations by selecting the checkbox to
the left of the configuration.
2. Click Mark as golden copy.
3. To remove the golden copy setting for a configuration, uncheck the configuration and click
Mark as golden copy again.
The backup will be deleted at the next scheduled deletion time.
Replicating configurations
You can replicate a switch SNMP configuration, the Fabric Watch configuration, or the entire
configuration.
After configuring the SNMP settings for a switch as described in “SNMP configuration” on
page 158, you can replicate the configuration to another switch.
ATTENTION
Fabric Manager does not check the validity of the configuration. Be sure that the configuration is
correct before replicating it.
