ATTENTION
The FCS list can display Access Gateway-moded switches in the list of selections while enabling
security, and in the Security Policy Editor.
Do not define an Access Gateway-moded switch as the primary FCS switch or in a security policy.
FCS policy options configuration
Fabric Configuration Server (FCS) policy configuration in Fabric OS is performed on a switch-local
basis and may be performed on any switch in the fabric running Fabric OS 5.3.0 or later.
The FCS policy must be created using the command prompt (CLI) or other management interface.
When the FCS policy is created, the WWN of the local switch is automatically included in the FCS
Policy list. Additional switches can be included in the FCS Policy list, and become backups.
Switches in the fabric that are not in the FCS Policy list become non-FCS switches.
All switches in the selected fabric are displayed in the Available Switch List, and the currently
selected FCS switches display in the FCS Switch List.
The first switch in the list becomes the Primary FCS switch. Only the primary FCS switch is allowed
to modify and distribute the database within the fabric. Automatic distribution is not supported; you
must explicitly distribute the FCS policy using the distribute CLI command.
Any subsequent switches serve as a backup FCS. The order in which switches appear in the FCS
Switch List represents a chain where each backup switch takes over as the primary FCS if the
preceding primary FCS fails.
Switches in your Fabric Configuration Server (FCS) policy serve as trusted switches. Use the
following procedure to display these switches and to add, remove, or reorder switches in the policy.
Configuring or editing the FCS policy
1. In the Information panel, right-click the secure fabric for which you want to set policies and
choose Security > Security Policy Editor from the context menu,
or
choose Tasks > Fabric Management, then select Manage Secure Fabrics.
The Policy Editor appears (see Figure 158 on page 244).
2. Click the FCS tab (see Figure 159 on page 246).
