Client/server interaction

To fix a changed authentication method problem
Perform one of the following actions to restart the Fabric Manager services:
Select Start > Settings > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services.
Right-click Fabric Manager.
Select Restart.
or
Start the Server Management Console and follow the directions outlined in “Monitoring and
managing Fabric Manager services” on page 327.
Client access to switches
If the client cannot access some of the switches, you should check the IP connectivity between the
client/server, the client/switch, and the server/switch and then check the Web server on the
switch by launching Web Tools on that switch.
NOTE
Use secTelnet to access the switch if secure mode has been enabled.
Client CPU usage
If the client CPU usage is too heavy and has an unusually sluggish or slow response, you should
check the recommended configuration.
Capturing/reporting client issues
Run the fmsupportshow.bat file to generate supportshow output, as described in “Capturing Fabric
Manager support information” on page 348.
Client log overwritten
After upgrading the Fabric Manager client, if you are using Remote Desktop, be sure to cleanly shut
down Fabric Manager for the restart. Otherwise, the client log may be overwritten.
To see how many remote sessions are active and to kill them, go to Control Panel > Administrative
Tools > Remote terminal server manager.
Client/server interaction
If you suspect the problem is related to an interaction between the client and the server, check the
following areas:
